Franklin J. Seyfried, 74, of Kempton, formerly of Bethlehem Township, died Aug. 17, 2023, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
He and his wife, Mabel E. (Horning) Seyfried, celebrated 53 years of marriage in June.
Born in Fountain Hill, he was a son of the late John and Alma (Diefenderfer) Seyfried.
A veteran, he served his country in the U.S. Army, and later worked at Bethlehem Steel for 30 years.
He also owned and operated the former Seyfried Auto Repair Co., Bethlehem.
Lastly, he worked at Air Products, Allentown, before retiring in 2009.
He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 379, Bethlehem, and a member of both the Ontelaunee Rod and Gun Club, New Tripoli, and the Train Collectors Association, Strasburg.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his daughter, Jennifer A. Seyfried, wife of Steven VanZandt of Orlando, Fla.; sister Nancy Zoltack of Walnutport; and brother William (Linda) Seyfried of Bethlehem.
He was predeceased by sisters Charlotte King and Mildred Seyfried.
There will be a private memorial service, at the convenience of the family, in Nester Funeral Home, New Tripoli.
The Rev. Dr. Robert Santucci will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be sent to American Legion Post 379, 622 Fifth Ave., Bethlehem, PA 18018.
