Golf gets big win, tennis team falls

Last week, the Northampton golf team kicked off its season against an always-tough Emmaus team.

The Kids are expected to be at, or near, the top of the EPC and the district when all is said and done this season, and the match against the Hornets would be an early test. But the Kids won by 21 strokes, 382-403. The team was led by Gavin Pychinka’s 74 with Trent Moyer and Michael Seidick shooting 76. Kohler Strohl had a 77.

Fast forward to this past Monday, the head coach Brian Davies was anxious to see how his Kids would do against what was considered to be another top team in the EPC.

The Kids didn’t disappoint, although in a much closer match, and knocked off the Blue Eagles 384-385 at Southmoore’s par-71 golf course, in what was considered a battle for the EPC title. The Kids also defeated Parkland and Central in the match.

This time, Kohler Strohl led the way as the junior fired a match-wining 72.

Gavin Pychinka shot 74, Trent Moyer had a 76, Justin Edwards shot 80 and Tyler Matute-Keiper had an 82.
