Roughies Report: Ready for school? First day of new academic year is Aug. 28
Welcome to the 2023-24 school year! I hope everyone had a great break. It’s now time to embrace new challenges and seek fresh opportunities as you begin a new academic year. A big shout-out to all the incoming ninth-graders and new students and a welcome back to the rest of the student body.
Catasauqua High School opens for all students 7:20 a.m. Aug. 28.

All students attending Lehigh Career and Technical Institute must complete and return their student medical forms by Aug. 31. The forms are accessible through Skyward.
Any student who needs to carry or use medication during school must have a parent/guardian complete a medication form, which must be returned to LCTI immediately. Any medication necessary for a chronic condition requires a new form be submitted at the beginning of each school year.
***
Many programs at LCTI require students to purchase and wear clothing specific to their career and technical program or what is worn in the industry.
Every student is allotted $25 toward his or her uniform purchase.
All specialty students in classes requiring uniforms must have their uniform and work shoes by the second full week of school. Students may not wear their uniform to and from LCTI.
Any student who cannot afford to purchase career attire should inform their instructor. LCTI will make every attempt to assist the student in obtaining a uniform.

Each year, Catasauqua Area School District parents/guardians must update their emergency contact and health information forms within the PowerSchool Parent Portal. These forms provide the school administration and nurse with medically necessary information in case of an emergency.
Completion of the health information form gives authorization for your child to receive emergency first aid in the event of sudden illness or accident. If the condition of your child requires treatment by a doctor, and no parent/guardian or emergency contact can be reached, the online forms give permission for the student to be transported, by an emergency medical service, to the appropriate location.
Health/medical information and emergency contacts must be provided for each student when due, or disciplinary consequences will be assigned until the card is submitted to the school nurse.

CASD’s website, cattysd.org, provides students, staff and parents/guardians with pertinent information. The menu at the top of the opening page permits access to the CHS webpage, as well as the other district buildings.
The opening page also provides a weekly calendar of events for all district buildings and information regarding school holidays, activities, athletic contests and more. Links are provided for district contacts, school board information, guidance, food service and transportation information.
The link to electronic resources allows students to access many subscription-based websites for research, as well as the online catalog for our libraries.
In addition, links are provided to outside resources - i.e., the Colonial League, Public Library of Catasauqua, valuable educational resources, etc.
More information can be obtained by contacting the CHS office.
