Allen Township Board of Supervisors met Aug. 8 to approve and adopt a zoning ordinance amendment regarding banquet use.
The zoning amendment relates to the Setter Hill project, which was approved in October 2022.
Ron and Lisa Check, of Setter Hill Beverage, plan to construct a special event center at 639 Old Carriage Road. The event center will consist of a two-story main building, cottage, wedding venue and chapel and a horse-riding stable.
According to township Manager Ilene Eckhart, the ordinance takes the banquet hall use and allows it as a by-right use in the agricultural district only as an accessory use to farming, vineyard and winery uses.
The ordinance also removes the banquet facility use from the highway commercial, industrial commercial, medium- and high-density zoning districts.
In other business, supervisors appointed Denise O’Brien to the final seat on the parks and recreation board. O’Brien will serve on the board for five years.
Supervisors were expected to meet Aug. 22. They will next meet 6 p.m. Sept. 12 at the fire department building, 3530 Howertown Road.
