Respectfully Yours: Preparing the guest room for guests to enjoy

Dear Jacquelyn,

I am preparing to host company from out of town. I would like to make sure my guest room is as comfortable as possible. What are some essential items I should be sure to have in my guest room?

Dear Reader,

Ensuring that you provide all the essentials ahead of time for guests to be as comfortable as possible, helps create a home away from home for your visiting guests.

To ensure your guests feel welcome and enjoy their stay it’s important your guest room includes a beautifully made-up bed with fresh sheets and extra blankets.

Offer a few basic toiletries in the guest room and bathroom for guests to enjoy. Extra shampoo, toothbrushes, tissues and hand cream are a good place to start.

Another item on your list of must-haves for guests is a charging station for devices. They will likely have their own charging cords, but providing a USB charging cube is a nice touch. Also, be sure to share your Wi-Fi password.

You’ll want to leave room in the closet for visitors to hang their clothes. Be sure to add a few spare hangers. Hooks are one of the easiest ways to help guests stay organized, making it easy for them to hang clothing, bath towels and other items. If there is a dresser in the room, allot at least one or two empty drawers for guests.

Lastly, having a few general interest magazines and books on a small bookshelf is a welcome addition to any guest room. A guest room essential that will come in handy, visitor guides for your area and local history books, may be of particular interest as well.

These thoughtful details will ensure your guests feel welcome and right at home.

Respectfully Yours,

Jacquelyn
