Arvel Bird, international, multi-award winning Native American (Paiute) and Celtic violinist, flutist, storyteller will return to the area to perform at the 43rd Annual Roasting Ears of Corn Festival, 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Aug. 19 and 20, Museum of Indian Culture, 2825 Fish Hatchery Road, Allentown.
Dubbed “Celtic Indian” by his fans and music critics, Bird’s sound of contemporary fusion of Native America flute and Celtic fiddle rhythms has been described as “‘Braveheart’ meets ‘The Last of the Mohicans’ - at Woodstock.” His stage performances blends his Paiute heritage with his Scottish clan traditions.
A master of the violin and Native American flute, Bird has been captivating sold-out crowds around the world with this foot-stomping beats and quiet, meditative melodies.
Bird has shared the stage with country legends Loretta Lynn, Louise Mandrell, Tom T. Hall, Glen Campbell, Clay Walker, Ray Price and the Gatlin Brothers.
His world tours have included Scotland, England, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. He has performed at the SkyDome, Toronto, Ontario; Royal Albert Hall, London, England; Smithsonian Museums, Washington, D.C., and New York City, and the Kennedy Space Center, Cocoa, Fla.
Bird has released 25 CDs, two EPs and two DVDs. He’s the winner of the Canadian Aboriginal Music Award and Native American Music Award.
