Lawrence C. Belnoski

Lawrence C. “Larry” Belnoski of Orefield, died on Aug. 12, 2023, surrounded by his loving and dedicated family.

He was the husband of Elizabeth “Betty” (Jula) Belnoski, the longtime sweetheart and love of his life.

They were married for 58 beautiful years, and they were the best of friends.

Born Sept. 21, 1942, in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Frank and Iren Belnoski of Nanticoke.

Gentle and kind, and a most loving son, he was a most loving brother to his four sisters.

He served in the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Army National Guard during the Vietnam era.

A graduate of Newport Township High School in Wanamie, he received his Bachelor’s degree from Moravian College.

He enjoyed a 40-year career with Air Products and Chemicals, headquartered in Trexlertown, and retired in 2006 to enjoy vacationing in many places around the world with his wife.

His last position at Air Products was director of Aerospace and Defense.

In his many years of service, he and his wife were privileged to meet many American heroes including John Glenn and Buzz Aldrin.

This was during the time he and his department secured contracts with the federal government to supply hydrogen for space shuttle launches and engine testing.

He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield, for 47 years, where he proudly served on the pastoral council and as an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister.

He was a fourth-degree Knights of Columbus and was active in Scouting and served as a past chairman of advancement of BSA Troop 150, Orefield.

He was the life of any party, a jokester, storyteller, comedian, protector, comforter, dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle.

An avid game player, he especially enjoyed the board game “Aggravation” where the cry of the crowd was “get blue” (i.e., Larry)!

This special man could put a smile on anyone’s face and see the positive in any situation. He was much loved by all and will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Robert L. of Allentown, Christopher M. and wife Denise of Orefield, and Michael R. and wife Maria of Whitehall; grandchildren Kiersten Weiss, Corissa Belnoski, Amber Buck, and Randy and Dean Belnoski; great-grandchildren Ayla Weiss, and Sadie and Waylon Belnoski; sisters Ellen Sawkiw and husband Suki, Irene Kuligowski, Geralyn Howell and husband Rick, and Maurita Krysick and husband Bob; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
