Dorothy Ann Rabenold

Dorothy Ann “Dot” Rabenold, 93, died on Aug. 9, 2023.

Truly a coal miner’s daughter, she was born Nov. 17, 1929, in the small coal mining town of Crumpler, W.Va.

She was the fifth of 15 children, born to the late Ashby Lee and Annie (Young) Crouch.

The devoted and faithful wife of the late Sherwood G. “Woody” Rabenold, the couple was married for 62 years.

A graduate of Concord College with a Bachelor’s degree in education, she earned a Master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University where she met her future husband.

She was a teacher in West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania and felt her most important calling was to mentor and guide her children to seek the Lord.

The family prays the lessons she taught them will continue to bear fruit throughout future generations.

She wrote ... “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” (3 John 4)

Her survivors include children Donna J. Shaffer and her husband, Dennis, of Greencastle and David W. Rabenold and his wife, Carol, of Coplay; grandchildren Kristen N. Beaver and her husband, Aaron, Brooke D. Connally and her husband, Daniel, and Lauren E. Mowen and her husband, Ryan; and nine great-grandchildren.

A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Ryan C. Mowen officiating.

There will be no public calling hours. Interment will take place at Durham Cemetery, Bucks County.
