Rodger R. Schmoyer Jr., 72, of Salisbury Township, died Aug. 10, 2023, in his home. He and his wife, Ruth (Ritter) Schmoyer, shared nearly 49 years of marriage. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Rodger R. Schmoyer Sr. and Mildred (Niblick) Schmoyer.

He was a graduate of Dieruff High School and attended a dry cleaning technical school in Washington, D.C.

He was born into the family dry cleaning business, later became owner and retired in 2006 after 56 years when the store closed.

He was a member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Allentown.

He was a Salisbury Township commissioner until 2006.

He enjoyed spending time in the woods and riding his Kubota.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Rodger R. III and his wife, Rebecca, Bill, of Salisbury Township; grandchildren, Rodger IV, Emily, Erynn. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Stacy and an infant sister, Roxanne.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Aug. 16 in the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, Inc., 46 E. Susquehanna St., Allentown. A viewing for relatives and friends will be held 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
