Old Home Weekend
Bath Borough held its second annual Old Home Week - evolved to be Old Home Weekend - Aug. 11-13 at Ciff Cowling Field in Bath.
It was a success, despite a small rainstorm that shortened the softball tournament and forced the Wonton Soups to stop performing early.
Bath resident and comedian Scott Henninger performed Aug. 11, followed by the Bryant Brothers Band. The concession stand was run by the Bath Borough administration.
The softball tournament Aug. 12 was sponsored by the Bath-Allen Youth Club. The tournament was won by the Caravan Crew, which defeated the Bath Tubs in a rain-shortened game 2-0. Live music followed with the talented local band The Wonton Soups. The concession stand was staffed by St. John’s Lutheran Church volunteers.
The special activity Aug. 13 featured a free outdoor viewing of “The Sandlot.” The concession stand was staffed by the Bath Lions Club.
Residents were asked to decorate their homes in red, white and blue to be part of the weekend event. Mayor Fiorella Reginelli-Mirabito’s mission was the “Throw a Buck in the Truck” fundraiser to purchase school supplies for Bath Borough schools. The motto was “Cool Tools for Schools.”
The genesis of the Old Home Week(end) occurred when Bath Borough Councilman Frank Hesch was reviewing old Bath Borough documents and discovered leaders in Bath held an Old Home Week about 100 years ago to invite current and former Bath residents to come together in celebration.
