At its Aug. 3 meeting, Northampton County Council approved a $4.3 million expansion project for St. Luke’s University Health Network’s Anderson campus in Easton.
The Anderson campus opened in 2011 and has been renovated four times since then.
The project will expand the preoperative and postoperative areas, create a new operating room and create a space for a new radiology residency program at 1872 St. Luke’s Blvd.
In other business, Councilwoman Tara Zrinski asked for a revote on the previously vetoed employee health center proposed by county Executive Lamont McClure.
McClure proposed a free health center for county employees and their dependents. Services would be provided on a no-copay basis, and employees would not be required to use the health center.
According to the proposal, the health center would be open seven days a week, operating 10 hours on weekdays and five on weekends.
Some council members felt that because it wasn’t an agenda item, they should not vote on it.
Zrinski withdrew her motion and in its place made a motion, which failed, that council discuss the health center at the next meeting.
County council will meet 6:30 p.m. Aug. 17 at the county building, 669 Washington St., Easton.
