John (Jack) Leo Timmerman Jr., 91, of Hanover Township and formerly of Edison Township, New Jersey, died July 21, 2023, in Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg. Born in Jersey City, he was a son of the late John L. Sr. and Josephine (Peters) Timmerman. He was the husband of the late Martha (Scharloo) Timmerman for 50 years.
He was a 1963 graduate of Seton Hall University, where he earned a degree in business administration.
He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He worked for and retired from AT&T.
He was active in local politics, Midtown Little League (New Jersey) and other civil organizations. He was a member of the American Legion T. Nulty Post 471, Iselin, New Jersey, and was a past post commander. He led patriotic songs during Legion statewide parades and other events.
He sang professionally in his childhood on New York radio programs. He sang at weddings and family and social events for the remainder of his life. He was in several social and civic organizations such as the Junior Achievement program after moving to Bethlehem.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, John III and his wife Judy, Martin and Thomas and his wife Sue; a sister, June Sherry; four grandchildren, Jason and his wife Dana, Steven, Jaclyn, and John; nieces; and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Joan Pfeil.
A celebration of life will be scheduled for family and friends in the future.
