Charles R. Ames Jr., 97, of Allen Township and formerly of Moore Township, died Aug. 8, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hecktown Oaks. Born in Scranton, he was a son of the late Charles R. Sr. and Ella (Shafer) Ames. He was the husband of Linda M. (Rasley) Ames for 56 years.

He was a heavy equipment operator for Muschlitz Excavating, Moorestown, for 55 years. After retiring, he owned and operated a lawn care service.

He was a member of the Bath Rod and Gun Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Susan of Plainfield Township; three sons, Charles of Bethlehem, Timothy and wife Jessie and James and his partner Jess Miller, all of Northampton; five grandchildren, Taylor, Morgan, Isabella, Victoria and Michael; a great-grandson, Brayden; two brothers, James and wife Donna of Moore Township and Michael and wife Vivian of Alburtis; four sisters, Marlene Shafer and husband Bill of Bath, Debbie Moser and husband Dennis of Topton, Arminda Ames of Quakertown and Patricia Young of Bethlehem; nieces; and nephews.
