10 DAYS A WEEK: Your look at Musikfest 2023

Maren Morris, October Rose, 7 p.m. Aug. 12, Wind Creek Steel Stage at PNC Plaza, SteelStacks, Musikfest. Maren Larae Morris, born and raised in Arlington, Tex., moved to Nashville, Tenn., to pursue a music career. Her debut studio album, “Hero” (2016), included the hit singles, “My Church,” “80s Mercedes,” “I Could Use a Love Song” and “Rich.” Her album, ”Girl” (2019), included the No. 1 hits, “Girl,” and “The Bones.” Morris collaborated with her husband, Ryan Hurd, on the single, “Chasing After You,” which reached the Top Five on the Billboard country charts. Morris’ third album, “Humble Quest,” released in March, debuted at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart, with the hit single “Circles Around This Town.” Her United States’ tour began in June with stops at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, New York’s Radio City Music Hall, Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl and Red Rocks Amphitheater. Train, Better Than Ezra, 7 p.m. Aug. 13, Wind Creek Steel Stage at PNC Plaza. Train was founded in 1993 in San Francisco by lead vocalist Pat Monahan, an Erie native. The group’s debut album, ”Train” (1998), included the lead single, “Meet Virginia.” The album, “Drops of Jupiter” (2001), contained the hit single “Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me).” Train’s third studio album, “My Private Nation” (2003) included the hit, “Calling All Angels.” The album, “Save Me, San Francisco” (2009), had three top singles, “Hey, Soul Sister,” “If It’s Love” and “Marry Me.” The album, “California 37” (2012), had the hit, “Drive By.” Others, among Train’s 11 albums, include “Bulletproof Picasso” (2014) and “Christmas in Tahoe” (2015). The group’s lineup is, in addition to Monahan: Jerry Becker, keyboards, rhythm guitar, backing vocals; Hector Maldonado, bass, backing vocals; Nikita Houston, backing vocals; Sakai Smith, backing vocals; Taylor Locke, lead guitar, backing vocals, and Matt Musty, drums.
