The Lower Macungie Township Historical Society is pleased to announce Thomas Flexer, a 2023 graduate from Emmaus High School, is the recipient of the Lower Macungie Township Historical Society’s Norman Hoffman Scholarship. Flexer is the son of Travis and Christina Flexer and plans to major in history at the Pennsylvania State University.
Flexer was an outstanding student at EHS, graduating as an advanced placement scholar with honors, and also recently leading the Emmaus Academic Team to a 16th place finish in a national academic competition.
In addition to his scholarly achievements, Flexer served as treasurer of National Honor Society, was a violinist in the EHS orchestra and was a Hornet Ambassador student representative. His guidance counselor wrote Flexer possesses “a blend of scholarship, leadership and integrity that make him a standout among members of this year’s senior class ...”
The Norman Hoffman Scholarship is given by Russ Hoffman in honor of his older brother who lived his early years in the Wescosville Log House and whose study at Muhlenberg College was interrupted by his service in World War II. Norman completed his undergraduate education at Muhlenberg after the war and continued graduate study in education at Lehigh University. He became a teacher in the Upper Dublin School District.
