Naval native son to visit city Aug. 15, 16

Rear Admiral Scott Pappano, a native of Bethlehem, plans to visit the city the week of Aug. 14 as part of a Navy program of “Executive Engagement Visits.” These visits are designed to have Navy senior leaders visit cities throughout the United States and provide leaders and influencers throughout the city with information about the Navy – its missions, its people, and contributions to National Defense and Global Commerce.

While in Bethlehem, Admiral Pappan plans to visit with local leaders in government, corporate, civic, education and veteran support organizations. Among others, he currently plans to visit with the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce and speak to the Rotary Club of Bethlehem. He also plans to meet with Presidents at Lehigh and Moravian Universities, as well as the Superintendent of Bethlehem Area School District. He is also available to talk to interested media representatives in the area.

The Navy visits up to twenty-five cities throughout the continental United States, providing opportunities to visit cities that don’t normally see the Navy at work on a daily basis.

Admiral Pappano is a 1989 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering. He also holds a Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has served onboard USS City of Corpus Christi, USS Albuquerque, USS Michigan, and USS Ohio. He also commanded USS Buffalo while forward deployed in Guam. He currently serves as the Program Executive Officer for Strategic Submarines.
