Waves take part in finals meet

The Whitehall Waves’ summer swim season ended with the Championship Swim Meet on July 22 hosted by Northampton.

Qualifying competitors, ages 13-19, raced in the first of two sessions, and swimmers under 13 years old raced in the second session.

Whitehall, coached by Daniel Jablonski, had a good representation of top-five placements in individual events as well as in relays, and in team results, the Waves placed seventh, one point shy of tying with Quakertown for sixth place.

First place winners were Riley Bashore, Kendall Bashore, Neave Doyle, and Kyra Giedl in the 200 free relay (1:56.82), Kendall Bashore in the 11-12 100 IM (1:08.45), the 50 butterfly (29.49), and the 50 free (27.52), and Derek Bashore in the 9-10 25 backstroke (17.13) and the 25 free (13.76).

Turning in second-place swims were Kyra Giedl in the 13-14 50 fly (32.20), Aaron Stinner in the 15 & Over 100 free (49.57), and Xavier Makhoul in the 9-10 25 fly (16.18) and the 25 free (13.87).

Two of Whitehall’s relay teams earned second-place points: Derek Bashore, Mazin Makhoul, Xavier Makhoul, and Alex Beckel in the 9-10 100 medley relay (1:12.99), and Cory Sommers, Jazdiel Avrelo, Griffin Werner, and Micah O’Brien in the 11-12 100 medley relay (1:13.21).

Stinner placed third in the 50 fly (24.67), as well as Doyle in the 50 back (31.11), Riley Bashore in the 8 & Under 25 breast (24.21), and Xavier Makhoul in the 25 back (17.75).

Joseph Trinkle, Griffin Werner, Aaron Stinner, and Johnny Stinner came in third in the 200 free relay (1:51.69), and Joseph Trinkle, Andrew Fritchman, Owen Trinkle, and Tarek Makhoul combined for a third-place finish in the 8 & Under 100 free relay (1:19.98).

Fourth place finishers were Aaron Stinner in the 50 free (22.88), Joseph Trinkle in the 25 breast (25.33), Lexi Penn in the 11-12 50 breast (40.94), and Sommers in the 50 back (39.06).

Sommers also had a fifth place finish in the 50 fly (34.91), as well as Riley Bashore in the 25 free (18.68), Mazin Makhoul in the 25 free (15.07), and Werner in the 50 free (31.28).

The Bethlehem Stingrays were overall team champs with 1,340 points. The Macungie Bears came in second with 1,120 points, Soleco finished the meet in third place with 931.5 points, and Northampton was fourth with 766.5 points.

Lower Macungie came in fifth with 712 points, Quakertown was sixth with 599 points, Whitehall placed seventh with 598 points, and Palmerton was eighth with 101 points.
