Salisbury’s Lehigh Valley Legion season came to an end in the postseason tournament semifinals.
Salisbury opened the double-elimination tournament with a 6-5 win over Northern Valley on July 5. After a loss to top seed South Parkland a day later, the Falcons beat Allentown 11-1 and Lower Macungie 9-8 to reach the elimination bracket final against North Parkland.
The winner of the game would go on to take on South Parkland in the finals, needing to beat the Trojans twice to earn the title.
The Falcons, which went 11-9 in 2023, dropped a 5-4 decision to North Parkland, which went on to lose to the Trojans in the final.
Salisbury jumped out to an early lead against North Parkland before the Buffaloes nibbled at the lead over the final three innings.
A three-run first inning and another run in the second put the Falcons ahead 4-0. North Parkland got a run in the third, two more in the fifth and one run in each of the final two innings to earn the win.
Thomas Lovelidge and Matt Nunez each had two hits in the loss to North Parkland. Lovelidge pitched 2.2 innings and allowed just two hits and no runs. Owen Fogel pitched 1.2 innings and allowed a pair of runs. Andrew Grejda pitched 1.2 innings and allowed three hits and two unearned runs to take the loss. Salisbury committed four errors in the loss.
