Fun at Camp Whitehall

Wildlands Conservancy educator Claire Derakhshan visited the summerlong camp, held at Hokendauqua Park and Playground, 3417 Lehigh St., to treat campers to an education session and display of animals found in the Lehigh Valley. The visit was sponsored by Whitehall Township Environmental Advisory Council.
Maple the opossum visits Camp Whitehall with educator Claire Derakhshan, from Wildlands Conservancy, during an animal presentation July 21 to the summer day camp, held at Hokendauqua Park and Playground, 3417 Lehigh St. Campers learned the opossum found locally is the only marsupial in North America and can eat as many as 6,000 ticks per day as part of its diet.

Crafts are fun for camper Leila George, as she puts the finishing touches on her snow owl art creation.
With a theme of learning about animals and nature for the day, a group of campers display their snow owl craft projects against the natural backdrop of the Coplay Creek. The craft project and a visit from the animals of Wildlands Conservancy for the day were sponsored by the township's environmental advisory council.
