ATTENTION 2013 ALUMNI: The Liberty HS class of 2013 will hold its 10-year reunion during Musikfest. Aug. 12, 3 to 6 p.m. at the Back Stage Tent at ArtsQuest.

DO NOT PASS THE SCHOOL BUS: BASD and the Bethlehem City Police Department have joined forces to stop drivers from passing stopped school buses. Cameras will now be deployed when the buses’ stop signs are open, to capture the license plates of violators who pass the stopped buses.

NORTHEAST MS VACCINE CLINIC: BASD is partnering with the Bethlehem Health Bureau to hold a free Back to School Immunization Clinic Aug. 9, at Northeast MS from 4-6 p.m. Vaccines are for those who are uninsured or underinsured. To register, visit tinyurl.com/Aug-2023-Back-to-School-Clinic

BROUGHGAL MS VACCINE CLINIC: Bethlehem Health Bureau and BASD will provide vaccinations for any BASD (public or non public) students Aug. 17 from 4-6 p.m. Preregistration is preferred. Students age 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent. Covid vaccinations are available for students age 12 and older.

BASD IS HIRING: BAVTS is hiring part time Instructional Aides and substitutes. BASD is also seeking a Federal Program & Grant Coordinator. There are also several opening for teachers. For these and other open positions, visit basdschools.org. Aramark, the district’s food service provider, is also hiring.

SCHOOL SAFETY: Bethlehem City Police Chief Michelle Kott and the Bethlehem School Resource Officers recently met with Superintendent Dr. Jack Silva, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Maureen Leeson and Coordinator of Safety and Emergency Management Todd Repsher to develop integrated approaches to school safety and positive school culture in the BASD.

NORTHEAST FOOD DISTRIBUTION: On the second Saturday of each month, from 10 a.m. to noon, there will be a drive-through food distribution at Northeast MS 1170 Fernwood St. The distribution is open to families of BASD students. Next distribution date is Aug. 12.

VACCINATIONS: Vaccinations are required for all students, with specific vaccinations needed for students entering the seventh and 12th grades. To schedule a vaccination for your child, contact the Bethlehem Health Department at 610-865-7083.

HOLES FOR THE HILL: Fountain Hill ES is looking for sponsors and golfers for its Holes on the Hill Golf Tournament. The tournament will be Aug. 18 at 8 a.m., at the Southmoore Golf Course in Bath.

FRUIT/VEGETABLE DISTRIBUTION: BASD and the Bethlehem Food Co-op will offer free fresh fruits and vegetables at Thomas Jefferson ES on the following dates from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. or until food runs out: Aug. 2 and 26.

STUDENT ARTWORK: Mural artworks from students from Bethlehem’s elementary students are on display at The Joint Coffee Shops at their Bethlehem and Lehigh Valley Mall locations. Elementary art teachers assisted in creating the artworks, and a third grader at Miller Heights thought up the title for the murals.
