Fun, entertaining programs offered at library

Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, will host Melissa Chill’s Aardvarks Music Class for kids ages 1-5 from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. July 28.

Game day for adults will take place 1-3:30 p.m. July 28.

Harry Potter Escape Kids Room for children entering third grade and higher will be offered from 6-8 p.m. July 31.

As a team, find clues and solve a series of puzzles to solve a Hogwarts mystery.

Group size is limited to 6-8 wizards per session.

Registration is required to sign up for a 30-minute time slot.

Kids, celebrate Spider-Man Day with an interactive PG movie screening of “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” from 1-3 p.m. Aug. 1.

Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.

They will play, snack and draw along with the movie.

Kids ages 4 and older bring a favorite book and practice reading to the patient and gentle Lehigh Valley Therapy Dogs from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Aug. 1.

The library will offer a computer class for adults 11 a.m. to noon Aug. 2 in the Tech Center.

Learn about the things you can do with the PCL eResources such as: AccessPA Catalog, e-books, and media, reading recommendations, research materials, online learning, and job resources.

The Library Garden Club, an intergenerational gardening club for kids and adults, will meet 5-5:30 p.m. Aug. 2 and 19 at the library.

Learn how to help your garden grow.

The library will host Senior Coffee Club from 10-11 a.m. Aug. 3.

***

Adults, celebrate with library staff as you achieve your summer reading goals with ice cream and the opportunity to tie-dye your own T-shirt or bandanna from 6-7:30 p.m. Aug. 3. Dye will be provided but bring an item to dye.

Wee Build for children ages 18 months to age 5, with parent or guardian, will be offered 10-11 a.m. Aug. 4.

Join library staff for lots of fun with constructive play.

Bingo for adults will take place 1-2 p.m. on Aug. 4.

***

Baby Play Date for kids ages birth to 18 months, with an adult caregiver, will take place 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 7.

Board books and various toys for unstructured play will be provided.

Teen’s Dungeon and Dragon Night for kids in grades 7-12 will take place 6-8 p.m. Aug. 7 at the library.

Young Artist Workshop: Sculpture for children entering grades one to five will be offered from 1-2 p.m. on Aug. 8.

Working with three basic shapes, young sculptors will learn how to make an assortment of favorite animals.

This workshop is part of a three-week series, so you will need to register separately for each workshop.

The Senior Book Club will meet to discuss the novel, “Anxious People,” by Frederick Backman, 3-4 p.m. Aug. 8 at Luther Crest, 800 Hausman Road, South Whitehall.

Residents and nonresidents are welcome to attend.

The Art of Mindful Breathing will take place from 6-6:45 p.m. Aug. 8.

Join instructor Larissa Noto as she guides participants through breathing exercises.

Participants will leave this class with an accompanying handout with each of the breath techniques, and more, to be able to weave the art of mindful breathing into everyday life.

The Teen Anime Club for kids in grades six to 12 will meet 6:30-7:30 p.m. Aug. 9.

Be prepared to watch anime and chat while eating yummy snacks.

Short Story Society will meet to discuss the novel “The Semlica-Girl Diaries” by George Saunders 3-4 p.m. Aug. 10.

Registration is needed to attend all these programs except adult game day, Read to the Pups, Parkland Garden Club, Senior Coffee Club, Wee Build, Baby Play Date, and teen programs.
