Rough Rider tourney raises more money
It was a sun-splashed afternoon for a field of 120 golfers at the 16th annual Rough Riders Golf Tournament at Shepherd Hills Golf Course back on June 10.
A total of $6,000 was raised to help support the high school booster club and athletic department.
Athletic Director Tom Moll acknowledged the golfers, hole sponsors, and numerous businesses that donated to the tournament. He also thanked the efforts of volunteers Jennifer Warren, Marisa Bartholomew, Eric Snyder, Eric Dauberman, Mark Seremula, Madison Warren, Kelsea Warren, Mookie T. Moll, and Marley Moll.
“There were many people who made this year’s tournament a tremendous success,” said Moll. “We are already looking forward to next year’s tournament.”
The foursome of Mark Arnold, Sonny Arnold, Dale Hein and Steve Mayoryk fired a -14, and won on matching cards on the first handicap hole. Runners-up were Ben Hammel, Josh Case, Zach Koller and Chris Litzenberger (-14).
Other individual winners were closest to the pin (# 3) - Dale Smith (1’ 2”); closest to the pin (# 5) - Joseph Schneck (12’); closest to the pin (# 14) - Dennis Kelly (2’ 9”); longest drive (# 10) - Mark Dangler; putting contest - Steve Mayoryk (won a playoff putt-off with 13 other golfers); and pot of gold - Andrew Oswald and Jay Haines.
