Janet M. Mitman, 78, of Allentown, formerly of Nazareth, died July 22, 2023, in the home of her son, Kenneth, with whom she resided.

She was the wife of the late Vernon “Larry” Mitman.

Born Oct. 31, 1944, in Sangerfield, Oneida County, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Theodore B. and Evelyn M. (Wahley) McConnell.

She was employed at Dr. Maged Awadalla, in Boardman, Ohio, for 23 years before retiring in 2019.

Her survivors include sons Alan B. Mitman of Catasauqua, Kenneth L. Mitman (Michele) with whom she resided, and Jason D. Mitman (Mark A. Strausser) of Meadville; grandchildren Justin, Joshua and Emily Rose; three great-grandchildren; siblings Richard Ackerman (Susan) of New Berlin, N.Y., LaCresha Rose (Ronnie) of Fredericktown, Mo., and Larry L. Layman of Palmyra.

She was predeceased by a sister, Carolyn M. McConnell, and stepfather, the Rev. Manley L. Layman (Marilyn).

A private graveside service will take place at the convenience of the family at Hanoverdale Cemetery, 577 Hershey Road, Hummelstown, PA.

There will be no public calling hours.
