Wildlands Conservancy: Educational programs offered

Wildlands Conservancy is offering a number of educational, community and camp programs.

Eco-Friends Day Camp is 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 2, 9 and 16 at Trexler Nature Preserve, 4935 Orchard Road, Schnecksville. Learn some of the simple changes humans can make to positively impact planet Earth and how to live an eco-friendlier lifestyle. This program is free, but registration is required.

Cheers to Conservation will be held 4-8 p.m. Aug. 3 at Eight Oaks Farm Distillery, 7189 Route 309, New Tripoli. Meet the team and learn about the amazing efforts underway to preserve more land where you live.

Get Out for Wellness will be 10 a.m.-noon Aug. 5 at Leaser Lake, 7826-7836 Ontelaunee Road, New Tripoli. There are roots and rocks, steep short inclines and narrow trails, but some sections of the park are accessible to many abilities and ages. Dogs on leashes are welcome. Bring a camera/binoculars for nature and birds and your picnic-table lunch.

Pre-K Pathfinders: Into the Creek will be held 10-11 a.m. Aug. 8 at Trexler Nature Preserve. This program is for 3-5 year olds and their adults. Teams meet at the Jordan Creek ford to study the collect and observe the small aquatic species that call this creek home. This program is free, but registration is required.

For questions about these programs, contact Denise Bauer at dbauer@wildlandspa.org or 610-965-4397, ext. 131. To register, visit wildlandspa.org.

Join the Trexler Nature Preserve stream team 8 a.m.-noon Aug. 25 as members maintain vegetative areas along streams (riparian buffers) and help ensure the survival of young, native trees in the forest buffer. These vital areas improve water quality in local communities, reduce erosion and flooding concerns and provide habitat for wildlife. Parking is located near Old Packhouse Road, Schnecksville. This program is free, but registration is required.

For questions or to register, email Nic Ziegler at nziegler@wildlandspa.org with “stream team volunteer” in the subject line.
