Whitehall Township Public Library: Adult self-care craft planned for Aug. 1 at Whitehall library

A do-it-yourself self-care night for adults is scheduled for 6 p.m. Aug. 1. Adults can make their own sugar scrub and bath bombs.

Registration is required.

Community heroes night is set for 5-7 p.m. Aug. 2. Come meet members of Whitehall Township fire and police departments, Cetronia Ambulance Corps and more.

The rain date is scheduled for Aug. 9.

No registration is required.

The summer reading program - All Together Now - continues through Aug. 5.

The adult program finale is set for 1 p.m. Aug. 10. Celebrate with snacks and prizes.

The kids program finale is scheduled for noon-2 p.m. Aug. 12. Celebrate with face painting, balloon art, a visit from Mini Moos, games, and snacks. Kids can pick up grand prizes at this event.

Adults are invited for a craft to make their own miniature library in a tin 6 p.m. Aug. 15.

Creation Station: Exploring DNA will be held 6 p.m. Aug. 16 for youth in grades 3-6. We’ll make candy ladders that look like DNA strands and learn about the building blocks of life.

Join the library’s adult book club - On the Same Page. This club will meet 6:30 p.m. the third Thursday of every other month. Books will be loaned as availability allows.

The reading schedule includes the following books: “Black Cake,” Aug. 17; “Home Before Dark,” Oct. 19; and “Firekeeper’s Daughter,” Nov. 16.

August’s museum pass spotlight is Eastern State Penitentiary, 2027 Fairmount Ave., Philadelphia.

Eastern State was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world but stands today in ruin - a haunting world of crumbling cell blocks and empty guard towers. Explore Eastern State Penitentiary through one of its many guided tours.

Museum passes are free with your LCLC library card. The pass allows entry for up to six guests into the museum. Passes must be checked out and returned to the library circulation desk. Late fees apply.
