Plan to attend National Night Out Aug. 1 at SES

National Night Out is so close! Join the Salisbury Township Police Department 6-8 p.m. Aug. 1 at Salisbury Elementary School, 1400 Gaskill Ave. There will be free food, basket raffles, music, games and emergency vehicles on display. Get to know your local police, firefighters and EMS staff.

Have you started your school shopping yet? Just a reminder orientation for kindergarten, first, fifth and ninth grades is Aug. 28 and the first day for all students is Aug. 29.

There is a special school board meeting scheduled 5:30 p.m. July 31 at the administration building. This meeting will be immediately followed by an operations committee meeting 6:30 p.m. and after that, at 7:30 p.m. a finance committee meeting.

The Wildlands Conservancy still has events going on for the summer, and some right in our backyard. From 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 5, the conservancy will host “Wild in the Parks! Fish Hatchery Hike.” This is for all ages. You will meet in the Allentown Fish Hatchery parking lot and hike along the Little Lehigh Creek along with a guide. Space is limited, so you must preregister at wildlandspa.org. If you can’t make this one, check out all the other events they have listed.

Save the date: AM Radio Tribute Band will be performing a free concert 4 p.m. Sept. 9 at Franko Park, 1339 Black River Road, Allentown. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy music from the 1960s and 1970s.

The Jerusalem singers will perform in the sanctuary of Jerusalem Western Salisbury 7:30 p.m. Aug. 1. Refreshments will be available after the concert. A free will offering will be taken at the door.

The Salisbury yard waste drop-off sites are open. The Franko site will be open July 27, 29 and Aug 7. Devonshire will be open July 31, Aug. 3 and 5. As always, hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
