Coplay: Sign-ups for Coplay Sports baseball, softball to be held July 29

Coplay Sports is holding in-person sign-ups for the fall baseball and softball season. Baseball is for ages 4-15, and softball is for ages 5-8.

Sign-ups are set for noon-2 p.m. July 29 at the Coplay Sports clubhouse, 666 Potter Terrace. Online registration is also available at coplaysports.org.

Reminder: Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., is continuing its Friday night concerts. The doors and kitchen open 5 p.m., and bands perform 6-10 p.m.

The lineup includes Trick Stacy July 28, Chelsea Lyn Meyer Aug. 4, Video Daze Aug. 11, Trick Stacy Aug. 18 and Honey Buzzards Aug. 25.

The Coplay Wednesday night summer series continues 6-9 p.m. at the borough’s Community Plaza, North Second and Chestnut streets.

Upcoming concerts will include Steve Brosky and Jimmy Meyers Aug. 16, The Castaways Aug. 30, Third Hand Trio Sept. 6 and The Jenni Hackett Duo Sept. 13.

The band performing Aug. 2 is still to be announced.

St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 4 S. Fifth St., is holding its 69th annual picnic and homecoming noon-9 p.m. Aug. 6. There will be music, dancing, games of chance and other regular games, food, adult beverages and more.

Everyone is welcome.

The Coplay Municipal Pool, Second and Keefer streets, is open for the season.

The pool is having a great summer season with Aqua Zumba by Tara Miller. A free swim weekend will be held Aug. 25-27. Twilight pool evenings and other activities are also planned.

Coplay Community Days is almost here! It features quality entertainment, great food and fun.

The planning committee meets 7 p.m. the fourth Monday of every month in council chambers at the municipal building, 98 S. Fourth St. These meetings are open to the public.

The committee is expanding its kids activities over the weekend.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St., is planning its offerings for the food stand at Coplay Community Days, including pork barbecue, cabbage and noodles, clam chowder, hot dogs and drinks.

American Club of Coplay, 300 Cherry St., continues to offer its monthly hoagie sales. Hoagies (regular or tuna) and sandwiches (ham and cheese or tuna) are available.

Coplay Garden Club meets 7 p.m. the last Thursday of the month at St. John’s Lutheran Church social hall, 18 S. Third St. The next meeting is July 27.

The borough fire department reminds that a fire doubles in size every 30 seconds.

If you have a desire to serve Coplay and surrounding communities, consider joining the fire department. They are reorganizing and seeking volunteer firefighters.

Coplay Senior Citizens meets 1 p.m. first and third Wednesdays at the Coplay Fire Hall building, 165 Cherry St. Doors open noon.

Membership is open to all Lehigh Valley seniors.

Aerobic exercise is held 8:45 a.m. Saturdays and 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at Coplay Borough Hall. A small fee is charged for the session.

Coplay Athletic Club is seeking 2023 new and renewal memberships. The gym is located on the second floor of the municipal building.

A gym membership costs $90 per year and $80 for renewals and can be prorated.

Coplay Food Bank, located in the lower level of the municipal building, is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month.

The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta and rice pouches.

Coplay American Legion Post 426 has a special mailbox in front of the Post at 134 S. Second St. Worn out American flags can be deposited into the mailbox for the Post to properly destroy.
