Allen/East Allen townships: Tours available July 29, 30
Horner’s Cemetery Historical Society continues its extended tour days and hours July 29 and 30 at 4965 Nor-Bath Blvd., East Allen Township. Tours are scheduled for 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Visit the grave site of Jane Horner, the first woman killed by Native Americans in Northampton County. Listen to the story and gift giving between George Washington and Gen. Robert Brown. Learn about the ancestors of Theodore Roosevelt and Harry Truman. Hear the story about John Hays and Ben Franklin.
Meet Ben Franklin’s favorite local tavern owner. Hear why John McNair came to America, other than religious freedom reasons. Visit James “Old Esquire” Clyde, a lifelong friend of President Buchanan.
This area was first founded and called Craig’s Scotch-Irish Settlement. It is the oldest, permanent village of the Lehigh Valley.
Admission is free, but donations are accepted.

Reminder: The eighth annual Northampton Area School District Student Council car show is 9 a.m.-3 p.m. July 29 at Bicentennial Park West, 5351 Park West Lane, East Allen Township. The event welcomes all makes, models and years of cars, motorcycles and antique tractors.
Registration is planned for 9 a.m.-noon. The rain date is set for July 30.

Wildlands Conservancy is hosting stream maintenance events at several locations during August. These events will be held 8 a.m.-noon Aug. 4, 11, 18 and 25.

The Governor Wolf Historical Society museum and campus is open 1-3 p.m. Aug. 19 at 6600 Jacksonville Road, East Allen Township.
The society offers free tours of the three historic buildings, grounds and the new museum 1-3 p.m. the third Saturday of each month, April through November.
No reservations are needed.

Lappawinzo Fish and Game Association, 25 Lappawinzo Road, Allen Township, will be holding its monthly breakfast 8-11 a.m. Aug. 20. It is open to the public.
There is a cost.

The 295th anniversary festival of Craig’s Scotch-Irish Settlement, hosted by Horner’s Cemetery Historical Society, is 1 p.m. Sept. 9. The rain date is set for Sept. 10.
Special guests have been invited for the day.
