Robert Michael Butz, 48, of Alburtis, died July 13, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Allentown campus. He and his wife, Cherrity L. (Vanim) Butz, would have celebrated 28 years of marriage Sept. 23. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of Sharon A. (Spadt) Swoyer and the late Jeffrey L. Butz.

He was a graduate of Dieruff High School, Class of 1993 and was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Allentown, where he was a former Sunday school teacher.

He was employed by the Allentown School District for the last 31 years, currently holding the position of head groundskeeper and previously was the head custodian in different buildings in the district.

He was a former professional wrestler, retiring after 20 years in 2016. He was a former football coach for Allentown Little Huskies and the Emmaus Youth Program and worked as a parking lot attendant for the IronPigs.

He is survived by his wife; mother; children, Cayleigh L., Matthew J. and his fiance, Erika Newhard, Mason N.; a canine companion, Brie. He was predeceased by his stepfather, William F. Swoyer; stepmother, Marie E. (Young).

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. July 20 at the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 17th & Hamilton streets, Allentown. A visitation will be held 9 to 11 a.m. July 20 in the funeral home.
