Hokendauqua: Open houses planned

Whitehall Historical Preservation Society will be holding an open house July 22 at the Helfrich Springs Grist Mill and the Peter Grim Homestead, 501 and 506 Mickley Road, respectively, during the annual Passport to History event. Hours are 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

WHPS will also be open July 29 and 30, with a Volunteer 153rd Infantry Regiment encampment on the Peter Grim Homestead lawn July 29. The hours for that weekend are 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Adults 30 and older are invited to Parkview Pool, 3051 S. Fifth St., July 22 to swim for free 9-11 a.m.

A volleyball tournament will be held 3 p.m. July 23. You must register your team of six, with no age restrictions, by July 21. The format of the tournament will depend on the number of teams entered. A $50 gift card to Palace Pizza Bar and Grille, 3690 Lehigh St., Whitehall, will be awarded to the first-place team.

Other activities include a Christmas in July event noon-7 p.m. July 25 and a seniors free swim time 5-7 p.m. July 30 for those aged 62 and older.

The pool is open to Whitehall Township residents noon-7 p.m. daily.

There is a general admission cost, for ages 6-61 unless otherwise noted due to an event. Admission for children under age 6 and residents 62 and older is free. A photo ID is required.

Whitehall Bible Fellowship Church, 3300 Seventh St., is inviting students in grades 7-12 to youth group events. If you didn’t attend youth group this year, you may still join.

Lehigh Valley with Littles has partnered with Whitehall Fire Department for a Stories at the Firehouse summer series program.

The Hokendauqua station will welcome kids 3 p.m. Aug. 12 to hear a story, meet and greet firefighters and see the firetrucks up close.
