Dorothy J. Cardene, 96, of Whitehall Township and formerly of Scranton, died July 15, 2023, in Stamford, Conn. She was the wife of the late Richard Cardene.

Born in Taylor, she was a daughter of Bernard and Vera Samsak.

She was employed by the Whitehall-Coplay School District for 13 years. She worked in the Macy’s personnel office for 12 years.

She was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Coplay.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Ruderman of Boca Raton, Fla., and Debra Guerino; three grandsons, Blake, Evan and Scott Ruderman; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Palmer Ruderman; and two daughters-in-law, Ashley Ruderman of Boca Raton, Fla., and Rachel Dyer of Greenwich, Conn.

She was predeceased by a sister, Joan Schirra.

Services are private.
