Coplay Public Library: Staff development day set for Aug. 4

Coplay Public Library will be closed Aug. 4 for staff development day.

Reminder: The library is hosting free movies starting 1 p.m. Thursdays. The movie schedule is “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” July 20 and “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” July 27.

Feel free to bring your own snacks.

Christina’s Reptile and Animal Sanctuary will be visiting the library 11 a.m. Aug. 5 with a variety of animals for you to see and pet.

The program is free and open to all ages. Registration is required.

Have dinner at Samuel Owens Restaurant and Bar, 128 Chestnut St., 4-9 p.m. Aug. 20 for a library fundraiser.

Samuel Owens will donate 10% of your check to the library for dine-in meals only.

This is a wonderful opportunity for you to get delicious food and you will not have to worry about kitchen cleanup.

There’s still time to sign up for the 2023 summer reading program - Travels Around the World.

Register online at coplaypubliclibrary.beanstack.org and fill out the form. You can register as an individual or family.

If you have used Beanstack before, just sign in and register for the all ages reading challenge/all ages activity challenge. To track your reading/activities, click on log reading and activities. You can also register at the library.

Once you start reading, you will receive raffle tickets for reaching reading levels and doing activities. You could be the lucky winner of a gift basket.

Storytime and crafts will be held 1-2 p.m. every Monday. All ages are welcome to attend.

Preregistration is not necessary.

The library is hosting a crocheting class 1 p.m. Wednesdays for all levels of experience. Join us to learn to crochet or pick up some fun tips.

Other needlework is also encouraged.

Need some ideas for a vacation or day trip? Stop by the library and browse our collection of up-to-date travel brochures. They have information on places to visit in Pennsylvania and several other eastern U.S. states.

Shopping passes for Boscov’s Friends Helping Friends fundraising event are here. The entirety of the pass costs go to the library.

You will enjoy a discount on your in-store purchases Oct. 18 and get a chance to win a Boscov’s gift card.

You do not have to wait until the fall or spring book sales to donate gently read books to the library. We also accept CDs and DVDs.

For your safety, drop them off at the circulation desk during open hours.

The next book sale will be 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 6 and 7.

If you need to use a computer to search for information or making copies, we have six public access computers for you to use!

You just need to show your library card at the front desk when you come into the library. If you do not have a library card, it only takes a few minutes to get one. All you need is a form of ID, like a driver’s license. Library cards are free and may be used at 12 libraries in Lehigh and Carbon counties.

The library’s summer hours are scheduled for 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Fridays and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays.
