Nancy B. Reimert
Nancy B. (Wieand) Reimert, 91, of Emmaus, died July 5, 2023, at Country Meadows of Allentown. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Kathryn Wieand and the loving wife of the late Franklin W. Reimert for 37 years.
She was a graduate of Emmaus High School, Class of 1949, a proud Forty Niner, where she excelled in basketball and was class secretary. She graduated from Gettysburg College in 1953 where she was captain of the women’s basketball team, served as an editor of the college yearbook, was president of the Women’s Student Council and was named to Who’s Who.
She was a Delta Gamma Sorority sister.
She taught third grade at the former Kings Highway Elementary School, before moving to Hawaii where she taught for 12 years at Iolani School. Returning to Emmaus, she taught at Weisenberg Elementary School, Chestnut Hill Academy and volunteered at St. Margaret’s Preschool.
She and her husband traveled throughout the U.S. and around the world. She and her husband enjoyed golfing trips with their friends and her monthly bridge club.
She participated in numerous civic activities, serving as Emmaus Borough Secretary to the Board of Health for over 20 years, as a member of the Emmaus Women’s Club and as a director of the Emmaus Historical Society and The Shelter House. She was a longtime member of the Mercantile Club.
For many years, she was Mrs. Claus to her husband’s role of Santa for the Borough of Emmaus.
She was a lifetime member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Emmaus, where she volunteered in many activities.
She is survived by brothers, Robert B. Wieand and his wife, Dolly, Albert B. Wieand and his wife, Katrina; sister-in-law, Judy Wieand; nieces, Barbara Schueck, Janice Rickert, Sarah Wieand; nephews, Robert Wieand, Michael Wieand, Steven Wieand; great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband; brother, Richard B. Wieand; niece, Susan Peters.
