Joseph L. Quinn
Joseph L. Quinn, 86, of Lower Macungie Township and formerly of Schnecksville, died July 5, 2023. He was the husband of Sarae E. (Eberhardt) Quinn for 52 years.
Born in Mahanoy City, he was a son of the late Thomas G. and Anastasia “Stella” (Smerlick) Quinn for 52 years.
He was an attendee at Tamaqua Area School District.
He was in the U.S. Army in the military police, mostly in Alaska, and earned the rank of Spc. 4.
He worked for Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 37 years. For the last 21 years, he was a car repairman in the narrow-gauge shop. He worked part time at the bag drop at the Center Valley Golf Club from 2004 until it closed in 2012.
He was a member of the Mack Senior Golf League, of which he was champion in 2006 and 2007. He earned a trophy for the most accurate drive and scored a hole in one at White Tail Golf Course.
He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Emmaus.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Kerrie and her husband Todd A. Baker of Alburtis; two grandsons, Jacob T. Baker and fiance Tara of Lancaster and Jared G. Baker of Blacksburg, Va.; two brothers, Thomas “Jerry” Quinn of Philadelphia and Francis Quinn with wife Sandy of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters-in-law, Marie G. Quinn of Franklin, Tenn., and Arlene Quinn of Tamaqua; cousins; nieces; nephews; and extended family.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Edward G. and John Quinn; and his first wife, Ruthann (Sullivan) Quinn.
