Emmaus High School student receives memorial scholarship from Lower Macungie Township Historical Society

The Lower Macungie Township Historical Society recently announced Thomas Flexer, a member of the Emmaus High School Class of 2023, as the recipient of the society’s Norman Hoffman Scholarship.

Flexer graduated as an Advanced Placement Scholar with honors and led the Emmaus Academic Team to a 16th place finish in a national academic competition.

In addition to his scholarly achievements, Flexer served as treasurer of National Honor Society at EHS, was a violinist in the school orchestra and a Hornet Ambassador student representative.

Flexer plans to study history at Penn State.

The Norman Hoffman Scholarship is given by Russ Hoffman in honor of his older brother who lived his early years in the Wescosville Log House and whose study at Muhlenberg College was interrupted by his service in World War II.

Hoffman completed his undergraduate education at Muhlenberg after the war and continued graduate study in education at Lehigh University.

Hoffman became a teacher in the Upper Dublin School District.
