Coplay: Phat Crizzy to perform July 14 at Coplay Saengerbund

Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., announces its lineup for the Friday night concerts.

The doors, bar and kitchen open 5 p.m. Bands perform 6-10 p.m.

The lineup includes Phat Crizzy July 14, Sons of Izzy July 21 and Trick Stacy July 28.

Coplay Mayor Steve Burker’s July featured quote is: “The bad news may be that time does fly, but the good news is you’re the pilot.”

Michael Altshuler, motivational speaker, is credited with saying the quote.

The Coplay Wednesday night summer series continues 6-9 p.m. at the borough’s Community Plaza, North Second and Chestnut streets.

Upcoming concerts will include Third Hand Trio July 19, Steve Brosky and Jimmy Meyers Aug. 16, the Castaways Aug. 30, Third Hand Trio Sept. 6 and the Jenni Hackett Duo Sept. 13.

The bands performing July 26 and Aug. 2 are still to be announced.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St., is holding Vacation Bible School 6:30-8:30 p.m. weekdays July 17-21 at the church social hall.

The theme is “SonWest Roundup,” with a western adventure panned with games, crafts, music, snacks, Bible stories and more.

Children ages 4-14 are encouraged to attend. Contact Gail at 484-788-9791 for information or to enroll. You can register as late as the first class July 17.

The classes are free, but donations are accepted to defray costs.

St. John’s is planning its annual congregation picnic 10 a.m.-5 p.m. July 23 at the American Club of Coplay pavilion, 300 Cherry St. Registration begins 10 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. worship, including a VBS closing program.

There will be lunch, games, music, dancing and more.

There is a cost.

The Coplay Municipal Pool, Second and Keefer streets, is open for the season.

The pool is gearing up for a great summer season with Aqua Zumba by Tara Miller, free swim weekend Aug. 25-27, twilight pool evenings and other activities.

Coplay Community Days is almost here. Called the “best festival in the Lehigh Valley,” it features quality entertainment, great food and fun.

The planning committee is expanding its kids activities over the event weekend. The committee meets 7 p.m. the fourth Monday of every month in council chambers at borough hall, 98 S. Fourth St. These meetings are open to the public.

Coplay Garden Club meets 7 p.m. the last Thursday of the month in the social hall at St. John’s Lutheran Church.

A tip of the month is to “plant flowers and trees in your yard to help save the environment.”
