NP wins six straight heading into playoffs

The North Parkland legion baseball team went 6-0 last week to conclude the regular season on a positive note, winning its last four game. The Buffaloes finished with a 11-4-1 record, good for second place in the league standings. They beat Allentown 4-1 last Wednesday, defeated Southern Lehigh 11-1 on Thursday, took down Salisbury 7-4 Friday and then won over Northern Valley 3-1 in the season finale on Sunday.

Wednesday, June 2

Allentown-North Parkland

North Parkland scored twice in the bottom of the third and two more in the fourth to win this one.

Owen Ness got the scoring going with an RBI single in the third and then Nick Lindenmuth crossed home on a wild pitch to put his team ahead 2-0.

Allentown cut its deficit in half with a run in the top of the fourth, but Owen Ondrejca had an RBI groundout and then Tyler McNichols scored on a passed ball.

Lindenmuth threw a complete game and struck out seven for the win.

Thursday, June 29

Southern Lehigh-North Parkland

North Parkland scored three early runs in the bottom of the third and were never really threatened, adding two more in the third and six in the sixth.

Four Trojans had multi-hit games as they outhit the Spartans 12-4. Ondrejca led the way going 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs. Ness, Leo Dauberman and Chase Whittaker all recorded two hits with Dauberman adding two RBIs and scoring three runs. McNicholas and Logan Keeler both finished with two RBIs.

Whittaker struck out six in five innings of work to pick up the win.

Friday, June 30, North Parkland-

Salisbury

The two teams were neck and neck for the opening three frames as both scored three runs in their first at-bats. McNichols had a sacrifice fly for the opening run and then Noah Trager doubled in two runs for an early North Parkland 3-0 lead.

The Falcons tied the game immediately with a three-run bottom half. Dauberman then gave his team the lead back with a two-run triple in the fourth, followed by a steal home to push their lead back to three runs.

After a Salisbury run in the fifth, Trager tallied another run-scoring double in the top of the seventh. Owen Fogel came on to pitch in relief and earned the victory, throwing the final 3.1 innings.

Sunday, July 2

Carbon Monarch-

North Parkland

The Buffaloes picked up a forfeit win over Carbon Sunday, 7-0.

Sunday, July 2, Northern Valley-

North Parkland

After falling behind 1-0 after the first inning, North Parkland took the lead for good with a three-run bottom of the fourth. Ondrejca had an RBI on a fielder’s choice, Trager followed with an RBI single and Peyton Scherff had an RBI on a sacrifice bunt.

Trager also earned the victory on the mound, starting and throwing 4.2 innings, striking out eight batters.

Monday, July 3

Lower Macungie-

North Parkland

The Buffaloes secured the No. 2 seed for the LVL playoffs with a 9-1 win over Lower Macungie Monday in both teams’ regular season finale.

North Parkland jumped ahead 7-0 with four runs in the first inning and three more in the third.

Chae Whittaker went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a run scored for the Buffaloes, while Aiden Henning went 2-for-3 as seven North Parkland batters had at least one hit in the win.

Five Buffalo pitchers took the mound in the game with starter Nick Lindemuth getting the win after throwing three innings and allowing two hits and no runs while striking out a pair of Lower Mac batters.

North Parkland finished in second place in the LVL regular season and moves on to the league’s playoff tournament. As the No. 2 seed, the Buffaloes took on No. 7 Southern Lehigh in the first round Wednesday (after Press deadline). The double-elimination tournament is scheduled to continue each day through Sunday or Monday.

South Parkland won the league’s regular season title and will advance to the regional tournament. The league’s tournament champ will also advance to regionals. If the Trojans win the postseason tournament, the second place team from the tourney will advance to regionals.
