Catasauqua coaches Adam Landis and Tony Cunningham, and with the help of varsity girls coach Mark Sermula, Athletic Director Tom Moll, and help from the girls varsity basketball team developed an offseason training program for girls grades 3-8. The purpose is to give the kids the opportunity to better there skills and knowledge of the game of basketball. During basketball season, the youth program only receives minimal practice time due to the gym constantly being used by other winter sports. When season play comes, it puts the team a few years behind other teams like Northwestern-Lehigh and Notre Dame GP. Overall the goal is to work on fundamentals with the girls in the summer so in the season the coaches don’t have to teach basic skills and can teach more about the game of basketball. The program draws 20-25 kids a night and takes place once a week. There are also two summer league teams - one for 5th and 6th grade and one for 7th and 8th grade - that play in a league in North Whitehall for them to continue to get playing experience.
