During the Whitehall-Coplay School Board meeting June 26, the last regular meeting of the 2022-23 academic year, the board approved all business, educational and operational issues previously discussed in committees, as they closed out the 2022-23 school year and prepared for the 2023-24 year.
The board approved business issues such as paying the invoices and bills remaining from the 2022-23 academic year, budget transfers and authorized bonds and set amounts, designated depositories for district funds and investments and approved necessary transfers from the general fund to capital reserve fund.
Board members also approved the electric power contract with WGL Energy solutions for July 2023-July 2025.
The board approved and awarded insurance bids and quotes for the upcoming school year to Utica Mutual, providing school package coverage including fleet, blanket bond and crime, the umbrella policy and the school board legal.
Chubb will be the coverage for equipment breakdown and cyber liability. AmTrust will be covering workers’ compensation.
The board also approved and appointed Portnoff Law Associates Ltd. to collect delinquent real estate taxes and GH Harris to collect delinquent per capita taxes.
As discussed at committee meetings, the board approved a K-5 science textbook and field trips for the upcoming year.
The district will purchase the BOXX modular classroom being used at Gockley Elementary School.
The lease agreement with Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21 was also approved.
Additionally, staff for summer programs and sports programs, as well as other personnel-related issues were also approved.
There will not be committee meetings this month, but the next regular meeting will be held 7 p.m. July 24.
