Motorists in Upper Milford Township may have noticed a new crop of detour signs.
Traffic will be detoured between Aug. 10 and Sept. 13 while a section of Church View Road is closed for work crews.
Truck traffic will be detoured to use Dillingersville Road and Limeport Pike.
Passenger traffic will be routed to use Acorn Road, Faith Road and Geho Road.
Meanwhile, on Main Road West, motorists are asked to be mindful of a detour 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays when the road will be closed between German Road and Vera Cruz Road, accessible only to local traffic.
Watch for detour signs and please slow down in work zones.
Other upcoming projects include work by utility crews to upgrade electrical transmission lines in the township. Work should start this month and extend through August 2025.
Work is expected to include drilling and installing foundations for power poles, planting the poles, stringing power lines and moving the heavy equipment needed to do the work, according to a letter from PPL Electric Utilities.
Crews will be replacing older wood poles and supports with taller and thicker steel poles designed to be stronger and to better weather high winds and major storms.
Construction projects are not the only summer events in the township.
The Upper Milford Historical Society will host its monthly open house July 16 at the Upper Milford Township municipal complex, 5671 Chestnut St., according to social media.
Visitors are welcome 1-4 p.m.
The Upper Milford Farmers Market, also at the municipal complex, is open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through November.
Join members of the township recreation committee 7 p.m. July 17 for a meadow walk at Churchview Park. This is a regular meeting for the committee so all are welcome.
Update your calendars for a presentation by the Lehigh County Conservation District and Wildlands Conservancy about the riparian buffer area along Leibert Creek. The presentation will be held at the Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main St., home library for Upper Milford Township residents, 7 p.m. July 24. Hosted by the Joint Emmaus and Upper Milford Environmental Advisory Council, the program, originally scheduled June 26 in Emmaus Community Park, was postponed due to severe weather. The program will be held rain or shine at the library.
