Local first responders pay tribute to fallen state trooper

Press Photo by Jim Marsh Local first responders and Pennsylvania state troopers from across the Commonwealth paid a respectful tribute to a slain comrade who lost his life in the line of duty in Juniata County June 17. Trooper Jacques Rougeau Jr., 29, was killed by a gunman who was later killed by Pennsylvania State Police troopers who tracked him down after he attacked the PSP Lewistown Barracks. Rougeau was brought to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest campus June 19, where an autopsy was performed, as is the case with all first responder line of duty deaths in Pennsylvania. ABOVE: The procession escorting the fallen trooper passes under an American flag honor arch raised between aerial ladder trucks by firefighters from Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company and from the Cetronia Station of the South Whitehall Fire Department. An additional photo appears on Page A2.
