North Parkland heats up late in LVL season
It’s the middle of the season in the Lehigh Valley Legion baseball league. North Parkland has gone 3-1-1 in its past five games. Here’s a look at the Buffaloes’ recent results.
Tuesday, June 13
No. Parkland-
So. Parkland
North Parkland and South Parkland settled for a 4-4 tie in eight innings.
In a rivalry game, North Parkland took an early lead with a three-run, bottom of the first inning. South Parkland, however, answered in its next at-bats, recording two runs in the top of the second and then tied the game and eventually took a lead by scoring a run in both the fourth and fifth innings to go on top 4-3.
In their final at-bats, still trailing by one, the Buffaloes would tie the game on an RBI single by Gavin Mohry. Mohry, Andrew Beers and Noah Trager all had two hits as North Parkland outhit the Trojans 7-5. Tyler McNicholas tallied two RBIs.
The Trojans had entered the game without a loss or tie this season, but since have dropped a pair of games.
Thursday, June 15
No. Parkland-
Allentown
North Parkland got a late run and held on to defeat Allentown 4-3.
Peyton Scherff tallied a run-scoring groundout to break a 3-3 deadlock in the top of the sixth inning. The Buffaloes took a 3-0 lead after three innings with one run in the second and two more in the third.
Allentown had one run cross home plate in the bottom of the third and two in the fifth.
Scherff led the lineup with two hits and had two RBIs.
Friday, June 16
No. Parkland-
Lower Macungie
The Buffaloes made quick work in this one by scoring eight runs over the course of the first three innings, including a six-run third inning to win 9-4.
Mohry, Jake Barto, McNicholas, Aiden Anderson and Nick Lindenmuth all drove in runs in the third. Owen Ness and Owen Ondrejca both finished with two hits, with the latter also adding an RBI. Chase Whittacker earned the victory on the mound by throwing five innings.
Monday, June 19
Salisbury-
No. Parkland
North Parkland erased a 3-0 deficit by scoring 10 unanswered to win 10-3 for their third straight victory.
After falling behind 3-0, the Buffaloes scored twice in the second, three times in the fourth, once in the fifth and four more times in the sixth.
Eight different players had one hit. Ness, Mohry and Leo Dauberman each recorded two RBIs.
Tuesday, June 20
So. Lehigh-
No. Parkland
Southern Lehigh jumped out on top early and often, scoring 12 runs in the first four innings to win 12-8.
Even with the Spartans scoring at a fast clip the first four innings, North Parkland answered the call as well, scoring two in the first, three in the second and one in the third, but Southern Lehigh just did a little bit more, taking a 15-10 advantage in hits.
Ness and Mohry had two hits and Beers recorded three RBIs.
