No. Valley hands SP first loss of season

Northern Valley won two of its last three Lehigh Valley Legion games to improve to 6-2 this season.

After a loss to Southern Lehigh last week, the Chargers bounced back with wins over the Carbon Monarchs and Souther Parkland.

Against Southern Lehigh on Tuesday, June 13, the Spartans turned 14 hits and 10 walks into a 19-4 win, just their second of the season to that point.

Austin Eisenhard had two hits in the game for Northern Valley.

The Chargers came back two days later to beat Carbon 8-1 last Thursday.

Shaun O’Donnell pitched five innings and allowed just three hits and no runs while striking out five batters and walking two. Wesley George pitched two innings and struck out four batter while allowing one run on four hits and a walk.

Cole Hausman went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI in the win. Trey Sterling was one of six Chargers with one hit each. He also drove in three runs and scored one.

Northern Valley handed South Parkland its first loss of the season, 6-4 on Monday at Parkland High School.

Nicholas Bogert pitched 2.1 innings and allowed three hits and two earned runs. Tyler Fenstermaker pitched four innings and allowed on hit and no earned runs while striking out three Trojan batters.

Sam Mauro went 2-for-3 with a run scored in the win. Nicholas Scott was 1-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. Sterling and George had one hit each scored two runs apiece in the win.

Through Monday’s game, Northern Valley was in second place behind South Parkland (7-1-1) and ahead of North Parkland (4-2-1). Allentown (4-4) was in fourth place as of Monday evening, followed by Lower Macungie (4-5), Salisbury (3-5), Southern Lehigh (3-7) and Carbon (2-7).

With eight games remaining on the schedule, the Chargers will play five games in six days next week to finish off the season Friday, June 30 against South Parkland
