Good Will Fire Company presents Fred J. Gross award

During their monthly business meeting on June 6, members of Good Will Fire Company No. 1, Trexlertown, announced the winner of the annual Fred J. Gross Memorial Community Service Award.

Representatives from the fire company and the Gross family presented this year’s award to Paige Harbison, a 2023 graduate of Emmaus High School.

Paige is the daughter of Ethan and Tammy Harbison Sr., of Lower Macungie Township.

As a scholar, she maintained a 3.9 GPA while actively involved in extracurricular school activities and still made time giving back to her local community.

Paige volunteered at monthly fundraising breakfasts held at the Good Will Fire Company, served as a youth deacon during Sunday services at St Paul’s UCC, as well as volunteering as a National Honor Society tutor to her peers and underclassmen.

She has strived for excellence in the classroom and willingly assist her neighbors in their time of need.

Established by the fire company in 2016, a graduating high school senior residing within the fire company’s response area is recognized for their volunteer community service during the current academic year, the news release reads.

The award is in memory of Past Fire Chief Fred J. Gross, a life member of the fire company with over 45 years of active service.

He strived to always assist his fellow neighbor in their time of need.

Gross instilled this compassion not only in his children and grandchildren, but also to many local residences allowing this all-volunteer organization to provide emergency services to the local community for over 100 years and counting.
