Glory galore: You have your choice of July 4 fireworks in the Lehigh Valley.
A free Independence Day celebration, 5 p.m.-10 p.m., J. Birney Crum Stadium, Allentown, has music, food and fireworks. The skyrockets are scheduled to go off at 9:20 p.m.
In Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom, South Whitehall Township, where there’s an admission fee, the fireworks are scheduled at 9:30 p.m.
The “Great American Blast,” 6 - 9 p.m., Coca-Cola Park, Allentown, a ticketed event, has food, games and music, including a performance by The SwingTime Dolls, with fireworks scheduled at 9:15 p.m.
In Bethlehem, there’s the free ”Independence Day presented by Embassy Bank” at SteelStacks, above. View more than 1,500 photos on the “Hometown Heroes 2023 Banner.” Performing are: Sing for America, 3:30 p.m.; John DeRosa, 5:30 p.m.; Tavern Tan, 9-11 p.m., Highmark Blue Shield Community Stage, Air Products Town Square. The Allentown Band presents a concert, 7:30 p.m.-9 p.m., Levitt Pavilion. Fireworks from Sand Island are scheduled at 9 p.m.
Hay now: The 73rd Kutztown Folk Festival, July 1-9, Kutztown Fairgrounds, Kutztown, is said to be the United States’ longest-running folk festival. The nine-day festival is “one of America’s Top Celebrations,” says USA Today. There’s Pennsylvania-Dutch food, the largest traditional quilt sale in the nation, craft demonstrations, historical reenactments, traditional music and dancing. Shakespeare “Heights”: The Lin-Manuel Miranda musical, “In the Heights,” continues through July 2, Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival (PSF), DeSales University, Center Valley. The “In The Heights” cast includes, above, from left, Chelsea Zeno (Vanessa), Ryan Reyes (Usnavi) and Solomon Parker III (Benny). Also at PSF: “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised] [again],” June 28 - July 16.
