A kindergarten readiness summer camp program is being offered in Northampton Area School District.

The 2023 kindergarten readiness Title I camp summer program for incoming kindergarten students is set for July 17-20 and July 24-27. NASD personnel teaching at the Title I summer program include Nicole Cramer, Rachel Olm, Jennifer Haley, Alana Heller, Jessica Quinones, Nicole Rothrock and Jacqueline Schucker.

The program is funded through Title I grants. There is no cost to NASD.

On recommendation of the administration, the NASD Board of Education approved the Title 1 summer program and staffing by a vote of 8-0, with one board member absent at the June 12 meeting.

In other business at the June 12 meeting, school directors voted 8-0, on recommendation of the administration, to approve the appointment of Jason Williamson, NASD assistant business administrator, as board of education treasurer, July 1-June 30, 2024, at no additional compensation; half-year educational sabbatical for Wendy Moreira, for professional development for the first semester of the 2023-24 school year; Mia Guadagnino, head cheerleading coach, effective for the 2023-24 school year, at $5,845; student summer help, maintenance, at $10 per hour, effective for summer of 2023; and Jennifer Modrich-Zughbi, 10-month secretary, at Lehigh Elementary School, effective Aug. 14, at $25.54 per hour, with benefits.

The board of education is scheduled to meet 6:30 p.m. July 17 in the auditorium at Northampton Area High School, 1619 Laubach Ave.
