Catasauqua: Declaration reading, George Taylor House tours set for July 4

There will be a Fourth of July event including the reading of the Declaration of Independence and tours of the George Taylor House, 35 S. Front St., starting 9 a.m. July 4.

Reminder: The free summer concert series will feature the band Scott Marshall and The Highway Souls 7-10 p.m. June 30 at the Catasauqua Park and Playground amphitheater, 501 American St.

Get out your lawn chairs and blankets, and settle in for a fun evening.

The Timewhys concert June 23 was canceled due to weather. The performance has been rescheduled for Sept. 15.

Creative members of the Catasauqua Garden Club will have a hands-on workshop to build unique garden art at the July 5 meeting, starting 1 p.m., at Slovak Center Social Club, 1233 Fifth St., North Catasauqua.

Members will also present artistic and horticultural exhibits for viewing and judging.

Curious and garden-friendly visitors are welcome for an afternoon of fun and surprises.

Catasauqua Community Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St., is having a half-price sale on all Christmas items and Christmas clothing, July 10-22. Stop in and celebrate Christmas in July!

Regular thrift shop hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.
