NORTH WHITEHALL: St. John’s UCC to remember past worship, service styles

Special to The Press
St. John’s United Christ of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laurys Station, has planned a Decades Through Worship series to remember and reflect on style differences from the past.
The congregation will take a look at the liturgy, music and sermon messages from the 1950s, 1970s and 2000s on the last Sunday of each month in the summer.
The experience should help those present to observe the changes which have taken place in Sunday worship.
Organizers invite all to participate in the remembrance of Christian expression in years gone by.
On June 25, the service will begin as it did in the 1950s with the Solemn Declaration, “In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.”
Pastor James Gottwald will lead the worship beginning at 9 a.m.
Visitors are welcome to attend.
