WCSD honors police during special week

In honor of National Police Week, celebrated May 14-20 this year, Whitehall-Coplay School District hosted meals for the township police and school resource officers.

Lunch or breakfast was provided each day, ending with a May 19 breakfast, donated by Giant Food Stores and Weis Markets.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which May 15 falls as National Police Week.

“The turnout has been great all week, and the community provided excellent food and meal choices,” said Matt Christman, school resource officer at Whitehall High School.
