Summer reading club open at Allentown Public Library

The Salisbury Township Cheerleaders are holding a Chick-fil-A fundraiser June 22 at the Whitehall Chick-fil-A! This event is good on both dine in and take out orders completed at the location and runs 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. All you need to do is mention Salisbury Township Cheerleading when placing an order or show the flyer (found online) on a phone. The cheerleaders will then get 15% donated back to the cheerleading program.

Lehigh Active Life Senior Center, 1633 W. Elm St., Allentown will host a dance June 24. A DJ will provide the entertainment and refreshments will be available. All are welcome; call 610-437-3700 for details.

The Allentown Public Library Summer Reading Club, “All Together Now” is open to any child 0–18 now through Aug. 5. Students will receive a reading/activity log filled with things to do this summer. As the log is completed, students will earn prizes and be entered in the raffle for a grand prize.

The Salisbury Township Summer Park Program has started at Laubach, Lindberg, Devonshire and Green Acres parks. The program will run through July 21. The hours will be 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday and 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday evenings.

This elementary-aged program is for Salisbury Township resident’s children who have completed kindergarten through the age of 12 years old.

Participants are to register at the park location they will be attending on their first day.

There is no preregistration. Registration is required before dropping off your child for the first time. The form is available on the township website or at the parks.

Looking for a fun way to escape the summer heat and watch some great kid-approved movies this summer? The AMC Summer Movie Camp is back for 2023. With discounted tickets Wednesdays and Saturdays, this is a great way to spend some time with the kids. Opening June 24 and playing through June 28 for the Movie Camp will be “Puss in Boots: the Last Wish” and playing June 30 through July 5 will be “Kung Fu Panda.”

Salisbury Township night at the IronPigs is back. The game will be June 29 with a 7:05 p.m. start and it’s a fanny pack giveaway night. Tickets include a $2 concession credit. Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute is hosting an Impact Athlete Soccer Clinic 10 a.m. to noon July 15 for students entering second through fifth grades. The clinic will be held at the Charles Chrin Community Center, 4100 Green Pond Road, Palmer Township. The clinic will feature Rylee Donaldson from Villanova University. Looking forward ... Mark your calendars. The 2023 National Night Out date has been announced. It will be held 6-8 p.m. Aug. 1 at Salisbury Elementary School. The Salisbury Township Police Department is currently looking for basket donations for the basket raffle. For more information, contact Cpl. The Devonshire drop-off site will be open June 22 and 24 and the Franko site will be open June 26, 29 and July 1. Hours will remain 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Thursday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

The Board of School Directors of the Salisbury Township School District is seeking applicants to fill a vacancy on the board due to a recent resignation. The term to be filled by the board will continue until December.

To be qualified for school board service, a person must be a citizen of Pennsylvania, be of good moral character, be at least 18 years of age and be a resident of the school district for at least one year.

Persons who wish to be considered should submit a letter of interest and a resume to the board secretary, Dawn Nickischer at Salisbury Township School District, 1140 Salisbury Road, Allentown, 18103.
